It's an exciting time for folks who enjoy cannabis, especially here in the southwest! After passing recreational cannabis in 2021, New Mexico joined 20 other states with legal weed on the books, opening the market in the spring of last year. And New Mexicans are with it; according to the state’s Cannabis Control Division, 2022 concluded with record-breaking medicinal and recreational sales.

Of course, this comes as no surprise. Cannabis popularity is at an all time high (pun intended.) Everything from alcohol-alternative THC drinks to canna-tourism are on the rise. Adults of all backgrounds, income levels, and pre-existing experience are reaping the benefits of the plant, with almost 50 percent of Americans saying they’ve at least tried cannabis. For the first time ever, smoking marijuana is more popular than smoking tobacco. 

Whether you’re a seasoned aficionado or just canna-curious, there’s a new world of possibilities on store shelves for the modern weed clientele. After all, this isn’t the Reefer Madness days of yesteryear. Cannabis is for everyone (over 21, of course): working professionals, athletes, people with chronic illness, artists, outdoorsy-types, the list goes on. 

We’re setting up shop in beautiful ABQ because we believe in the illuminating power of cannabis, and want to cultivate a space where people can meaningfully invest in their recreation and growth however best works for them.

In our soon-to-open sunlit storefront, customers will soon be able to browse Lucent’s carefully curated selection of cannabis products, crafted with ABQ’s unique and vibrant community in mind. Surrounded by light and art amid a bustling public square, folks can chat with our friendly budtenders about any questions they may have about products, experiences, or the exciting things happening behind the scenes at Lucent or in the broader cannabis scene in ABQ/New Mexico.

When you step into the Lucent community, you’re guaranteed transparency in our process—an honesty that you can see. Alongside transparency in our ingredients and system, we’re also investing in community development to build a rich network of people around Lucent and ABQ. As in any new industry, we know that we’re stronger together and we’re excited to welcome you into this collaborative space.
